Stars are defined by their ability to fuse hydrogen atoms together into helium atoms. Nuclear fusion not only keeps stars from collapsing in on themselves, but also allows them to shine, well, like the Sun. Hydrogen fusion occurs in many different ways in stars, but this post will be tackling the predominant mechanism for low-mass stars: the proton-proton chain.
