I am a firm believer in humor as a tool of education. When I'm trying to memorize, rather than mnemonics, I turn to puns. And so, some of my best biology puns: Why do olives produce excess vasopressin, oxytocin, FSH, LH, and growth hormone? Because they have a really strong pit-uitary gland
Why do corvids (crows, magpies, jays, ravens) have such amazing flagella? Because they're composed of mi-crow-tubules
Why was glucose-6 phosphate persecuted in the Salem witch trials? Because it was created using hex-okinase Why was the chlorophyll molecule stocking up on acne creams? It was worried about its pore-phyrin rings Why did the histone acetyl transferase like soap so much? Because it added an acetyl group to lye-sine Where did the X chromosome go after it committed a crime? Behind Barrs Let me know in the comments if we want more punny posts!
